1966 Fender Precision Bass with a beautiful Candy Apple Red finish, in exceptionally good 9.5/10 condition. Serial:165443. It's very light weighing only 8 lbs 3.5 oz / 3.72 kg. Aside from a re-soldered ground wire from Bridge to tone pot and some minor repairs to the pickguard, it's all original and complete, including the case. Supplied with a 3-month warranty and 14-day returns policy.
As you can see the finish is incredibly vibrant. You have to take a close look to see any imperfections. Around the edges, there are a few very small chips in the finish and there's some light lacquer checking in the finish. Exceptionally clean overall. The neck and headstock are almost entirely free of wear. 2 of the tips on the pickguard (by each horn) have split due to shrinkage of the guard, they have been repaired (glued) and there is an extra screw hole in the body under each to accommodate the shrinkage. It's an all-round excellent bass, a joy to play and sounds incredible.
This bass has been fully set up in our workshop and is strung with a set of D'Addario Chrome, flat-wound strings and low action. The neck is date stamped Oct 66 C. Both pots date to 66 with only the tone pot showing the full date of the 31st week of '66. The pickups have original winds and untouched solder but the sponge underneath has gone rock hard and is completely stuck so no dates are visible. Weight: 8 lbs 3.5 oz / 3.72 kg. Nut width: 44.2mm, depth at 1st fret 21.5 mm. Pickup DC resistance 10.87k.
