1960 Fender "Stack Knob" Jazz Bass, Sunburst finish in very good condition. Tortoiseshell guard, slab rosewood fretboard, "clay" dots, original case. All original including the case and string mutes. It's a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard. Serial number: 44383. Weight: 8lbs 13oz / 3.99 kg. Nut width: 38.4 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.6 mm. It comes with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy.
It's not often that a stack knob Jazz bass comes up for sale let alone in great condition like this one. The finish is in very good condition overall, although the red has faded quite a bit on the front leaving a 2 1/2 tone burst. There's some fine lacquer checking and general playwear including a few dings, scuffs and small scratches. The neck and headstock also have light play-wear but are overall in fantastic condition. Everything remains structurally sound and all hardware and electronics are in good working order. The original frets are in excellent condition. The tip of the pickguard in the lower horn is missing.
The neck and body both have the pencil date 8/60. Both pickups have original winds and unbroken solder. The pots too have unbroken solder and date to the 25th week of '60. Fully set in our workshop with great action and a set of round-wound strings. (brand unknown)
