1958 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition. Sunburst finish, Gold anodized guard and a maple fingerboard. This is the cleanest Sunburst / Gold guard Precision I have had in stock and an absolute joy to play. With the exception of one extra hole under the guard this bass is all original and 100% stock including the case. You will see in the pictures the extra hole just below the hole for the tip of the pick guard on the lower bout. / included in the case is an early '60s Tortoise guard which the previous owner had on the bass for a while. The Gold guards only had 10 holes / later guards had 12 but only 1 extra was used (the Tortoise guard has now cracked in multiple places and not much use, but it is included!)
This bass is absolutely fantastic. It's an amazing player with an incredible neck. The body has a few small patches of wear around the edges and some light lacquer checking but is remarkably clean for a bass of this age and the Sunburst is still very vibrant. The neck has a few patches where the lacquer has started to flake off but is extremely clean. There's very little wear to the frets, my guess is that it's been strung with flat wound strings for most, if not all of it's life. The hardware is all clean and the truss rod is fully functioning with no issues. Overall this bass is in fantastic condition.
It's been fully set up by my technician with a fresh set of Rotosound flat wound strings, it has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:31500. The body date is 11/58, the neck date is 12/58. The pots date to the 25th week of 58. Nut width: 44mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.75 mm. Weight: 8lbs 12.5oz.
