1978 Fender Jazz Bass with a Black finish in excellent condition. Maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and white binding. All original and complete including the case and owners manual. Although the serial number indicates 1977, the tone pot is dated to 1978. This later date gives a more accurate final assembly. It comes with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy.
The body finish has a few very minor scuffs and tiny dings, mainly around the edges. The neck finish is very clean overall with just a few small dings. There are a few minor scuffs around the edge of the headstock as well as one larger ding/chip, just to the left of the Fender logo. The frets have been cleaned and dressed in our workshop and have lots of life left in them. The truss rod works as it should and the neck is straight.
The bass is strung with a fresh set of nickel Rotosound 45-105 round-wound strings and has low action giving great playability. Serial S739197. Weight 10 lbs 1.5 oz / 4.58 kg. Nut Width 38.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret 21.8 mm. The pickup dates are not visible as the sponge has stuck to the underside. The neck date is also not visible. The volume pot dates are obscured by solder. Only the tone pot has a visible date which is the 12th week of '78.
