1971 Fender Jazz bass in very good condition. Sunburst finish, rosewood fingerboard, Tortoiseshell guard. Serial: 338993. Except for the missing metal pickup and bridge covers, this bass is all original and complete, including the case.
This is a very nice example of a vintage Fender Jazz bass. The finish has a number of small scuffs and dings, mainly around the edges, as well as some buckle rash on the back. It has a fantastic neck, which is clean overall with only light wear and tear. The frets are clean and have plenty of life in them, having been dressed in our workshop. The headstock is clean overall with just a little bit of scuffing along the top edge. A previous owner etched their name and Social Security number onto the metal backplate and the control plate.
This bass is a joy to play, with a superb, even sound right across the fretboard; it has a straight neck, and plenty of room in the truss rod. It's been fully set up in our workshop and is strung with Ernie Ball round-wound strings. Weight 9 lbs 2 oz / 4.14 kg. The neck date is Dec 71. The pots all date to the 16th week of 1971. The mute sponge is stuck to the underside of the pickups, so no dates are visible. Nut Width: 37.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 22.5 mm.
