1968 Gibson EB-2D, Sunburst finish in excellent + condition. Other than the pickguard, switch tip and strap buttons this bass is all original including the Victoria Luggage case and string mute mechanism. (I've fitted a new handle to the case) All round excellent bass with a wonderful tonal range. This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set or D'Addario flat-wound strings and a medium/low action. Serial number 940729. Weight:9lbs 12.5oz. Nut width: 38.85 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 22.5 mm. We removed a couple of pots and they were dated to mid/late 67. Given that the solder is untouched we are sure the other two pots are of similar age and are original to the bass.
The body finish is extremely clean with light lacquer checking but very few other signs of wear. The Sunburst is still very vibrant and rich in colour. The headstock has a few small dings but nothing major. The back of the neck is very clean and the frets are in great shape. The binding is fully intact and in great shape as are the frets. The neck is straight and has no issues. The metalwork is clean and still shiny.
The EB2D has a powerful Gibson humbucking pickup at the neck position and mini humbucker by the bridge with separate tone and volume controls + Baritone switch. 30 1/2 inch scale. The EB2D has a Maple body with a central tone block, Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard and 20 frets.
