1966 Fender Precision Bass with a sunburst finish, tortoise-shell guard and a rosewood fingerboard. Nice and light weighing only 8 bs 3.5 oz. This one has seen a fair few nights on the road, as can be seen by the play wear. It is, however, an amazing player with an incredible neck. The tuners have been changed and there's 1 extra screw under each tuner plate on the back of the headstock. (only visible with the tuners off) The metal bridge cover is original but the metal pickup cover is new. The bass is otherwise original, including the case.
The body finish has plenty of play wear and battle scars which are mainly around the edges of the body but also a large area of buckle rash on the back. The finish on the back of the neck is worn leaving it very smooth to play. There is also some light lacquer checking in the finish. The original frets are in good shape with plenty of life left in them having been dressed in the workshop. The pickguard is in good condition with only minimal shrinkage and no cracks.
It's been fully set up in our workshop and is strung with what I believe are D'addario round-wound 40-100 strings. It has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:125497. The neck stamp reads Feb 66 C. Only one pot date is visible and it dates to the 8th week of 1966. Both pickups have original windings, one half of the pickup has a pencil date of march 28th 1966 but the other half is is illegible. Nut width: 43.9mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.3 mm. Weight: 8lbs 3.5oz.
