1966 slab bodied Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition. Refinished in October 2000 by Clive Brown (The initials C.B can bee found in the pickup cavity along with the date 10-2000)
It was brought to me by Heather Mathews the widow of Barry Mathews, the writer of "Fender Bass For Britain" who, unfortunately, died in 2019. His book is included in the sale. A letter from Heather documenting the bass' history is also included with the sale This was Barry's personal Bass. Under pickguard, you can see a rectangular section of wood has been filled in and finished over. Most likely from someone previously fitting a humbucker. (obviously, you can only see it with the pickguard off)
This bass has been fully set up with a fresh set of Elites Stadium series 45-105 round-wound strings. The neck date is October 1965 C, both pots date to the 12th week 66, the pickups have original winds and strong output. Serial 138700, weight: 9lbs 4oz.
