1966 Fender Jazz Bass, Dakota Red

1966 Fender Jazz bass in very good condition. It has a beautiful and rare Dakota Red custom colour finish with a matching headstock. A bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots and oval tuners. All original and 100% complete, including all solder, hardware, finish, no logo black case with original owners manual, polish cloth and both case keys. This bass is a joy to play and sounds fantastic.

The finish is in very good condition overall. There are a few small nicks and dings in the finish as well some arm rub wear on the top edge and  buckle rash on the back. There are no touch ups and no over spray. The nitro clear coat has yellowed only slightly leaving the exposed areas marginally darker than under the guard.

The back of the neck is in great condition with only light play-wear. The fingerboard and frets are in great condition. The bass came to us strung with flats and given that there's only minimal wear to the frets I would guess its had flats on most, if not all of it's life. The headstock is in great shape with only a few very small scuffs around the edges.

All hardware and electronics are in fine condition with the metalwork remaining nice and shiny. The truss rod works correctly and the neck is straight with no dead spots.

This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a great medium/low action and a fresh set of D'Addario Chrome flat-wound strings. It weighs 9 lbs 11.5 oz. Serial: 133189. The neck date is Mar 66 A, the pots all date to the 9th week of 66. The pickups have original windings. The sponge has stuck hard to the underside so the dates are not visible.  I've added a little extra sponge under both pickups to allow them to be adjusted properly.  Nut Width: 38mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21 mm. It comes with 3-months warranty.

Condition Very good  8.25/10
Case OHSC
