1962 Fender Precision Bass, tastefully refinished in early 2021 by Shane Haigh "The String Surgeon" in Wakefield. Body only refinish. The original Sunburst is still in the neck pocket, pickup cavity and control cavity. It needed a refinish because when it arrived it was poorly refinished and needed tidying up. It has a lovely unbroken tortoise-shell guard and a slab rosewood fingerboard. It's an amazing player with an incredible neck. When the bass came in it was missing the metal neck pickup cover so I have added a Fender reissue. The bridge cover appears to be original. The pickup was faulty so I have had it rewound by bare Knuckle. The case is original but is structurally on its last legs. It is only being held together by the interior The bass is otherwise original.
The refinish has been done very tastefully with a light relic at my request. There's light finish wear applied to the back and along the edges. There is also lacquer checking throughout. The finish on the back of the neck has light to medium wear. The headstock has a few light scuffs and patches of wear around the edges.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario Chrome flat-wound strings and has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:77519. The neck pencil date reads 3/62. Both pots date to the 9th week of 62. Both pickups have black bobbins and original winds. Nut width: 44 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21 mm. Weight: 8lbs 6.5 oz.
