1959 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition. Blonde nitrocellulose refinish, Rosewood fingerboard, gold guard, Fender reissue case. Everything appears to be original other than the finish, the headstock decal and the case. The neck is extremely clean and given that the decal is changed I would suspect it's also refinished. The pickup cavity displays what I think is the original blonde finish. There is some evidence of black in the control cavity and a few spots around the edges of the neck pocket which could indicate a Sunburst or black finish at some point but my guess is that this bass was originally blonde and has had more than one refinish.
This bass is nice and light weighing only 8 lbs 4.5oz. It's an amazing player with an incredible neck. The refinished body has a few small areas of wear around the edges and a very small patch of buckle rash. The neck and headstock are nice and clean with minimal wear and light lacquer checking. The original frets show very little wear, my guess is that it's been strung with flat wound strings for most of its life. The hardware is in good condition and the truss rod is fully functioning with no issues. Overall this bass is in fantastic condition.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'Addario Chrome flat-wound strings and has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:41605. The neck has no pencil date which is common in '59, The body is dated, 7/59. The volume pot dates to mid 58 and the tone pot to early 59. Nut width: 43.8mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20 mm. Weight: 8lbs 4.5oz.
