1957 Fender Precision Bass in very good condition. First-generation, split coil pickup with raised A-pole pieces, 2-Tone Sunburst finish, maple fingerboard, anodized guard, slotted large tuner screws with reverse gears and a V-neck profile. Original finish, anodized guard, metal covers, pickups, pots, frets and hardware, it even has the original case.
This bass is a joy to play, and what amazing tone it has! The finish on the front of the body is in excellent condition with minimal nicks and dings and some lacquer checking. There are few nicks/dings/scratches on the edges of the body and back of the neck. It does have some buckle rash on the back but nothing too serious considering its age. The frets are clean and in excellent condition having been dressed in our workshop. The headstock is in great shape with only a few small dings around the edges. There is light lacquer checking to the finish throughout.
Fully set up with a set of D'Addario Chrome 45-100 flat wound strings. The action is nice and low. Only the volume pot date is (partially) visible and dates it to the 4th week of 57. The tone pot is covered in solder. The pencil date in the pickup cavity is 9/57. The neck pencil date is 10/57. All-round fantastic bass. It's nice and light weighing 8 lbs 12.5 oz, Serial: 22809. Nut width: 43.25 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 22.25 mm.
