Early 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 with a Fireglo finish in Excellent + 9/10 condition. It's missing the pickup cover but is otherwise all original and complete including the hard case. Serial: NB 966.

Late 73 into early 74 was a transitional period for Rickenbacker. The checkerboard binding was changed for plain white binding and the wide neck inlays were changed for much narrower inlays. On some basses from this period, you will still see earlier features such as the toaster neck pickup and wavy Grover tuners. (as you see on this bass)

It plays and sounds great and the action is low. The finish on the body is in excellent condition with barely any wear. There are a few small finish scuffs and dings on the edge of the headstock and one on the back of the neck.

Fully set up with a fresh set of strings. The frets are in great shape showing virtually no wear. The truss rods work perfectly, and the neck is straight and true. All electronics and hardware are in good working order with no issues. The Pickups, pots and hardware are all original. The pots all date to the 47th week of 1973, the serial dates the production to Feb 1974. Weight 9 lbs 7.5 oz / 4.3 kg. Nut width 42.7mm. Depth at 1st fret 24.2 mm.
