Beautiful 1973 Rickenbacker 4001, rare Azureglo finish with checkerboard binding in extremely good condition. With the exception of the pickguard it's all original including the hard case. It has checkered binding on the body, white (now cream-coloured) binding on the neck & full-width pearl inlays. The toaster & lead pickups sound fantastic with strong output. The wavy Grover tuners are clean and fully functioning.
The body finish has hardly any nicks or dings but does have some dark patches on the back of the body and one on the back of the neck behind the nut. This may have been caused by something left in the case like a lead or by the case material itself as the patch behind the nut is right where it rests in the case. The neck and headstock are otherwise clean and straight with just a few tiny dings/scuffs on the back which have been touched up. The frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. This is one outstanding and rare bass, it's also great fun to play and has that killer Rick tone.
All hardware and electronics are in fine working order. The pots date to early '73. The truss rods are fully functioning and the action has been set nice and low in our workshop with a set of Rotosound strings.
