1980 Music Man Stingray in excellent condition. Natural finish, black pickguard, maple neck & fretboard. Equipped with a 2 band EQ, non-epoxy coated preamp and through-body stringing. The string mute mechanism is missing and the jack socket has been changed. Supplied in a modern Music Man hard case. The bridge saddles have been changed. Otherwise all original.
There's a chip in the lacquer on the edge of the body just below the jack socket but other than that the finish has very few signs of play wear with only a few small scuffs and dings. The back of the neck, the fretboard and the headstock are all extremely clean. The neck is straight and plays smoothly. The original frets have minimal wear and have been cleaned and polished in our workshop. This is an all-round excellent bass, the sound is warm and punchy. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of round-wound strings and has a great action allowing for superb playability up and down the neck.
The serial number is B020719. Weight: 11 lbs 2.5 oz. The body is stamped Mar 21, 1980. There is no visible neck date. The pots all date to late 78 or early 79. The truss rod works as intended with plenty of room to move. Nut Width: 42.25 mm. Depth at 1st fret 21.3mm.
