1981 Gibson Victory Artist, Gold Refinish. Very good + condition. Serial 82801535. Other than the finish and the case this bass is all original. Nut width 43.1mm. The depth at 1st fret is 19.9 mm. The weight is 11 lbs 15 oz / 5.42kg. Set up in our workshop with low action and a fresh set of nickel Rotosound round-round strings. All round fantastic bass with a wide range of tones.
The body finish being fairly new is in excellent condition with very little playwear. The neck and fretboard are generally clean with only light play wear. The neck is straight, the action is low, and the frets are in good condition having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. On the back of the headstock, there is a small crack coming from the E string tuner hole. There is also a little seam separation.
The Gibson Victory Artist was a two-pickup, active version of the Victory Standard - with passive mode, and notch-filtered active mode. This particular model features two VIIIB humbuckers, positioned vertically at the bridge and slanted at the neck. It also has a TRI-4 wedge bridge and Schaller open-gear machine heads. The only element that pays homage to Gibson's traditional design is the Thunderbird-esque headstock style.
The controls are: master vol. / bass cut & boost / treble cut & boost / pickup selector switch / Mode selector switch (passive, active with notch filter, active)
