1979 Gibson RD Artist Bass in excellent condition. Sunburst finish, Ebony fretboard, serial 71119076. All original including the case. The original Moog circuitry and pots are untouched. Fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of nickel Rotosound round-wound strings. It has a very slim nut width, measuring only 40.55mm. Depth at 1st fret is 21.25mm. The weight is 12lbs 4oz. This guitar was made at the Kalamazoo Plant, MI, USA, April 21st, 1979. Production Number: 76. The back of the headstock has the "Second" stamp above the serial indicating the factory deemed it to have a finish flaw at the time. Given that this Bass is 40 years old there's no way of knowing where the flaw in the finish was.
This is one of the cleanest RD Artist we've had in stock. There are only a few very small scuffs/marks/dings to the body finish mainly around the edges. The neck and fretboard are very clean. The neck is straight and the action is great. The frets are in great shape having been dressed in our workshop and the truss rod is fully functioning. The headstock has no cracks/repairs but does have some marks on either side from a wall hanger or stand. This is a superb bass to play with a great range of tones.
Maple set neck and body, custom-designed active electronics with built-in compression/expansion, bright and neutral modes. 3-way pickup selector. 34 1/2 inch scale. Pearloid dot inlays and headstock motif. This bass is active with no passive mode. Electronics designed by Moog. Gibson humbucker pickups.
