1976 Gibson Thunderbird in very good condition. Original Black finish with very few marks. According to the production records online only 91 Black Thunderbirds were made in 1976! This bass comes with the original case and metal covers which are also in very good condition with no issues. Serial number:00243051. No headstock break or repair. There is a small crack in the lacquer running down from the edge of the nut but this is not structural and lacquer only. This bass is all original and complete including the case.
The bass has through-neck construction with a reverse body shape. One-piece Mahogany centrepiece; Mahogany wings. Rosewood fretboard, laminated pickguard, 2 humbucking pickups, 34 & 3-8 inch scale length. Modelled directly from the 1963 Thunderbird. New additions in 76 were the 3 point bridge and the Red, White & Blue insignia with 76 written underneath. Original pickups, pots and hardware. There a numerous small scuffs, chips and dings in the finish around the edges of teh body and headstock. The back of the neck is relatively clean as is the fretboard. Great action and clean frets. All-round superb bass.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with very low action. It has a big thumping sound. The visible pot dates read 137-7636 (36th week of 1976). Weight:8 lbs 14.5 oz. Nut width: 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.5 mm. 3-month warranty included
