1969 Fender jazz bass with a Sunburst finish with a Tortoise guard. It's in exceptionally good condition. It has a a beautifully figured maple neck and a dark Rosewood fingerboard with pearl blocks & binding. Aside from the rewound neck pickup (and cloth hook-up wires) it's all original including the case.
One of the cleanest vintage basses we've had in stock. This is one hell of a bass. We actually previously had this bass in stock around 8 years ago and having reviewed the old pictures it appears to have been looked after very well as there's no more wear on it now than there was back then. The only thing that has been changed is that the neck pickup has been rewound and cloth hook-up wires fitted to it.
Great player with a superb tone. There's a very small area of buckle rash and a tiny ding at the butt end. The neck and headstock are almost immaculate with only a couple of very tiny marks. The metalwork has no signs of rusting at all and is still shiny. All electronics and hardware are in good working order. The neck is straight and the truss rod works correctly. The frets are in excellent condition showing very little signs of wear.
This bass is a joy to play with a superb even sound right across the fretboard. It's been fully set up with a set of La-Bella flat-wound strings and sounds amazing. Weight 9 lbs 4 oz. Serial: 233031. The Serial indicates 68 but as the neck is stamped 69 this must have left the factory in 69. The pots all date to the 42nd week of '66. The neck is stamped May '69 A. Nut Width: 37.8 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.8 mm.
