1965 L series Fender Jazz bass in good overall condition. It has a nitro Sunburst finish with a Tortoiseshell guard and rosewood fingerboard. All original aside from one potentiometer. (the bridge volume pot dates to early 66) It comes supplied in the original hard case.
This is a fine example of a vintage Fender Jazz bass. Although there are numerous small dings, scuffs and buckle rash on the back, the finish is still vibrant with very little colour fade. The bridge cover screw hole is a couple of mm lower on the right hand side ( as you look from the front) because the original screw has broken off in the original hole. The neck has a little play-wear through the finish leaving it smooth in the hand. The original frets are clean and in excellent condition having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. The headstock has some scuffs and dings around the edges but everything remains structurally sound with no breaks or repairs.
This bass is a joy to play with a superb even sound right across the fretboard, it has a straight neck and there's tons of room in the truss rod. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a great medium/low action and what appear to be a set of very old Fender flat-wound strings. It weighs 9 lbs 2 oz. Serial: L94912. The neck date is May 65A. The two original pots date to the 28th week of 65. The pickups have original windings and untouched solder. The sponge is stuck to the underneath of both pickups, one has a date on the top edge which is August 65. Nut Width: 37.7mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.3 mm. It comes with 3-months warranty.
