1965 Fender Jaguar, Sunburst

1965 L series Fender Jaguar, serial L69052Sunburst finish in very good condition. It has a tortoise pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots and an unbound neck. All original aside from the bridge saddles which are from a mustang guitar. It comes supplied in a non original Fender-style hard case. 3-months warranty and a 14-day returns policy included.

This is a lovely guitar with plenty of mojo. It has moderate play-wear throughout with lacquer checking and small scuffs and dings in the finish. The back of the neck has some play-wear through the finish hut no big dings or scuffs. The headstock is fairly clean with only minor wear and small scuffs. All hardware works perfectly, including the trem arm and truss rod. The frets are in great shape.

This guitar has been set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'Addario nickel-wound 10-46 strings and a low action. The neck is stamped Feb 65 B. Serial L690529. The pots both date to the 8th week of 65. Weight 8 lbs 8 oz / 3.86 kg. Nut width: 41.4 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.5 mm.

The Jaguar was launched in 1962 as another top-of-the-line guitar in the same vein as the Jazzmaster. Both guitars shared the modern offset body shape and distinct floating tremolo system. The Jaguar differed in its use of a shorter 24-inch scale length and stronger single-coil pickups, which were encased in notched covers to shield the electronics from external radio noise (a typical annoyance with the Jazzmasters soapbars). Both guitars integrated a unique dual rhythm/lead circuit design, yet on the Jaguar the lead circuit includes three switches: on-off for the front pickup, on-off for the back pickup, and a bass-cut switch that adds an extra capacitor to the signal.
