1963 Fender Jazzmaster with a Sunburst finish in good condition. It has a beautiful tortoiseshell pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard with clay dots. The Jazzmaster was Launched in mid 1958 as the top of the range Fender guitar, and featured Fender’s first neck with a rosewood fretboard. It's an incredible Rock’n’Roll and Surf guitar and was a firm favourite of 90s bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. It comes with 3-months warranty and a 7-day returns policy.
This ones been re-fretted with period correct size frets and i believe the fretboard may have been given a light sanding from around the 12th fret to the end of the board as the clay dots in this area are lighter in colour compared to the rest. It's also had a new bone nut fitted, new mute sponge under the pickups and the bridge cover is missing. Otherwise original and complete, including the creme coloured case.
This is a lovely guitar with a new lease of life since the re-fret, it has play-wear throughout the finish as well as small dings, scuffs and scratches. Additionally it has lots of buckle rash on the back. All hardware is original and works perfectly including the truss rod. The frets are in excellent condition and the neck is straight. There's a 2 degree Stew Mac shim in the neck pocket allowing the action to be set just right. The pickguard is fully intact with no cracks but it has warped. There are no breaks or repairs and everything remains structurally sound.
This guitar has been set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario 10 gauge strings and a medium-low action. The neck is stamped July 63 B. The Serial is L05141. Both black bobbin pickups have untouched solder and original windings. The tone pot is dated 20th week of 63, the volume pot 37th week of 62. Weight 7lbs 12oz. Nut width: 42.1 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.2 mm. Width at 12th fret: 51 mm. Depth at 12th fret 24.3 mm.
