2020 Fender Custom Shop Relic '63 P Bass, Faded Fiesta Red - white/mint guard and a rosewood fingerboard. It was purchased in 2020 by one of our regular customers and hardly ever played, so it's in mint condition ( albeit relic'd at the factory). It's an amazing player with an incredible neck. The frets show no wear. Original custom shop brown tolex case and COA included as well as all the case candy. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a set of Thomastik Infeld flats and has a straight neck and great action. Serial: R105224. Nut width: 44.4 mm. Depth at 1st fret:20.2 mm. This is a really cool bass. Sound-wise, it’s got deep, defined lows, with a rich, present mid-range, and smooth top-end. And that finish?! Officially, Faded Fiesta Red, but it’s not a million miles away from Tahitian Coral.
Arguably Leo Fender’s greatest gift to modern musicians, the Precision Bass was the world’s first electric bass. A definitive year for the ground-breaking P Bass, 1959 introduced a rosewood fingerboard to its maple neck, setting forth an insurrection in rumble. The expert craftsmen at Fender Custom Shop have given this Relic P Bass a more-than-tastefully worn lacquer finish, vintage P Bass® bridge threaded steel saddles and hand-wound '59-’62 P Bass pickups for that world-beloved low-end tone. The Alnico V magnets offer a strong, beefy low-end, tight midrange, and bright, clear highs for an exceptionally well-balanced sound reminiscent of the very first Precision bass.
In vintage-correct fashion, this P Bass sports a 2-piece alder body, quartersawn maple neck with a ’60s Oval C-shaped neck profile, 7.5″-radius slab rosewood fingerboard and 20 45085 frets, as well as vintage-style tuning machine.
