Early 1964 Fender Precision Bass with a Fiesta Red refinish in good condition. Being early '64 it still retains the Spaghetti logo and clay dots. It's an amazing player with an incredible neck. Aside from the refinish, the only other non-original parts are the repro ( white/mint) pickguard, frets and case. It's missing the thumb rest and metal covers. The bass is otherwise original.
The body finish has very little play wear with just a few small scuffs and dings and some lacquer checking. The finish on the back of the neck has plenty of wear as does the headstock which has a fair few scuffs, dings and patches of wear. My tech replaced the frets and lightly sanded the fingerboard.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of Fender flat-wound strings and has a straight neck and great action. Serial: L23761. The neck is stamped Jan 64 C. The body has the correct nail holes, indicating the body is original. The volume pot dates to the 14th week of 1961. Both pots date to '64 with only one showing the week ( 3rd week of '64). Both pickups have black bobbins and original winds. Nut width: 44.3 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.2 mm. Weight: 8 lbs 4.5 oz / 3.76 kg. Pickup DC. resistance 10.39 K.
