1963 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst

1963 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst - in good condition. It's been refretted with period-correct size frets. The bridge pickup was open circuity so we had it re-wound to vintage specifications by Lee Lavarack of Toltec pickups in Leeds. The metal covers are from a later '60s Jazz bass. It's also missing the mute kit. Otherwise original, including the white tolex case. We have changed one latch as it was missing.  It comes with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy.

The body finish has lacquer checking and lots of dings and scuffs as well as a large patch of buckle rash. The neck has medium playwear through the top coat leaving it very smooth in the hand. The headstock has small dings and scuffs, mainly along the top edge. The tortoiseshell guard has shrunk but shows no cracks.  It has a rosewood veneer fretboard with "clay" dots. The frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. Everything remains structurally sound. All hardware and electronics are in good working order. The truss rod works correctly, and the neck is straight. The action can be set nice and low. Currently set just under 2mm at the 12th on the bass side.
It's a great player with a superb, even sound right across the fretboard.  Serial number: L02473. Weight: 9 lbs 3 oz / 4.17 kg. Nut width: 37.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.3 mm. Pickup DC resistance: N 7.42k / B 7.41k. The neck is stamped May 63A. The pots all date to the 20th week of '63. Fully set in our workshop with great action and a set of Ernie Ball round-wound strings.

Condition Good 6.95/10
