1962 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst refinish in very good condition. Supplied in a reissue Fender hard case. Tortoiseshell guard, rosewood veneer fretboard with "clay" dots. Body only refinish. Slightly later Fender covers. (66 or later) The three screws holding down the control plate are not original. Everything else is original. It's a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard. It comes with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy. Serial number: 75929. Weight: 8lbs 14.5oz / 4.04 kg. Nut width: 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.2 mm.
The nitro Sunburst refinish would, perhaps, have been a little more accurate with a thicker black band but it's of good quality. There's some very fine lacquer checking and some dings and scuffs, mainly around the edges. The neck and headstock also have playwear. The finish on the neck and headstock remains original ( although worn). The original frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. Everything remains structurally sound and all hardware and electronics are in good working order. The frets are in excellent condition.
The neck is stamped with the date Nov 62, the body has a pencil date of 9/60. Either this body hung around for a long time unused or the neck and body didn't leave the factory together. They fit together perfectly and there's no way of knowing for certain one way or the other. Both pickups have original winds. The pots all date to the 31st week of '62. Fully set in our workshop with great action and a set of round-wopunmd strings.
