1961 Fender Precision Bass with a Fiesta Red refinish done by Clive Brown. Excellent condition. As many of you will know, Clive's work is second to none and this example shows that. The neck has been refretted and the headstock has a repro logo (the original is included but unusable) and clear overspray on the face. (referred to as varnish in the letter provided but I believe this is sprayed on lacquer) There is some minor disturbance on the fretboard around the last few frets. The pots have been changed but the pickup remains original with original windings. The pickguard is original and fully intact. All the hardware is original.
The original owner's son brought the bass to us along with various pictures of his father with the bass from 1962 and 1963. Also included are the original hang tag, the hire-purchase book, and the memorandum of sale from Crane & Sons, Liverpool. The bass was imported to the UK by Selmer and the finish when purchased was Fiesta Red.
The body finish has been given a light relic. The neck has playwear through the finish. It's been fully set up in our workshop and is strung with a set of Rotosound flat-wound strings. It has a straight neck and great action. Serial:69047. The neck pencil date is 1/61. Both pickups have black bobbins and original winds. Weight: 8 lbs 4.5 oz. / 3.75 kg. Nut width: 44.2 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20 mm. Pickup DC resistance: 10.5k.
