1957 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition. First-generation, split coil pickup with raised A-pole pieces, 2-Tone Sunburst finish, maple fingerboard, anodized guard, slotted large tuner screws with reverse gears and a V-neck profile. Original finish, guard, metal covers, pickups, pots, frets and hardware, it even has the original tweed case, leather strap and hang tag.
This bass is a joy to play, and what an amazing tone it has! The finish on the front of the body is in exceptionally good condition with minimal nicks and dings and some lacquer checking. There are a few nicks/dings/scratches on the edges and back of the body. The neck is extremely clean with just some minor scuffs on the back. The fretboard is also extremely clean. The frets are in excellent condition having been dressed in our workshop. The headstock is in great shape with only a few tiny dings around the the top edge. There is light lacquer checking to the finish throughout.
Fully set up with a set of Thomastik Infeld flats. The action is fantastic and set medium/low (around 2.5 mm at the 12th) Both pots date to the 32nd week of 57. The solder on the volume pot has been re-flowed. The solder on the tone pot appears untouched. The pencil date on both the body and neck is 9/57. All-around fantastic bass. It's nice and light weighing 8 lbs 9.5 oz / 3.89 kg. Serial: 20680. Nut width: 44 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 22.3 mm. Pickup DC resistance: 10.62k.
