Beautiful 1973 Rickenbacker 4001, Mapleglo finish, Checkerboard binding. Serial number :MA 134 (January 1973) This is all original other than a small area routed out under the bridge mute and the tailpiece should be whats referred to as "gap tooth". When I got the bass there was a small Hi A Telecaster Guitar pickup in place of the string mute. I have removed the pickup and replaced the string mute. I believe the bridge saddles and mute mechanism to be original.

The toaster Pickup & lead pickup sound fantastic. The wavy Grover tuners work as they should as does all the hardware and electronics. The neck is straight and the frets are in good shape. This finish on this bass is very clean other than some buckle rash on the back. The binding has mellowed to a creamy Yellow and is all intact. This is one very fine and rare bass, its also great fun to play. It has that killer Rick tone as soon as you start playing.

Fully set up by my technician with a smooth playing action. The pots date to 1972. The frets are in good condition. Weight: 8lbs 15oz. Nut width: 42.41mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.38
