1977 Gibson Grabber G3, Natural gloss finish over Maple. Arrow-shaped heastock inspired by the flying V. Contoured body edge vaguely echoes the SG, its offset horns were clearly reminiscent of other popular makes, as was its bolt-on neck (4 bolt). The strings go through the body allowing for greater sustain and this bass definitely has that, along with a superb tone which can be heard in the sound file. Serial: 06169098. Weight: 9.6 lbs.

The G3 features three single coil pickups wired in hum bucking configuration. The pickups were designed by Bill Lawrence. The pickup selector works as follows: Forward position activates the front and middle pickups in humbucking configuration. The back position activates the middle and back pickup in the same manner. The middle position activates all three pickups for what Gibson coined a "buck-and-a-half".

The body, neck and headstone all show play wear and numerous small nick and dings. The frets are in good shape having been cleaned and polished by my tech. The pick guard has a crack and a small piece missing up by the neck on the G string side. Otherwise it's intact but does show plenty of use. No case but gig bag included. The pickups tilt screws are replaced.

Neck dimensions: Width: 1 & 5/8" at the nut , 2 & 3/16" at the 12th. Depth: 7/8ths at the nut and 1" at the 12th. The pots date to the 10th week of 76. This bass has been fully set up by my technician Chris Ward. Come and try it out at my showroom in Shoreditch London.
