**SOLD****SOLD**Vintage 1963 Gretsch 6070 bass in Sunburst. 34 inch scale. The Gretsch 6070 bass was a single pickup hollowbody bass. The double pickup version was the 6072. This classic instrument was also known as the Country Gentleman bass. This bass is in great shape and sounds not too far from an upright. ( which was the intention ) The extension spike is intact but only extends to around 6 inches, from memory ( having stocked one of these before) this should extend to at least twice as long if not 3 times. Overall this bass is in great shape as are the frets. Set up nice and low with Rotosound Black Nylon strings by my technician Chris Ward. The front and back of the body are in excellent condition showing virtual zero mark. The only dings and scrapes to be found are round the edges of the body. The back of the body has a cutout which is filled with foam and covered by leather which also protects the finish from buckle rash. The leather cover is attached to the body with press studs This high quality instrument was launched in 1962, and production ceased in 1972. SPECS: 17 inch double cutaway, 2 inches thick. Single pickup. Adjustable 4 string space control bridge. Gold plated metal parts. Bound simulated f-holes. Built in standby switch, 2 way tone control and mute.Volume knob with Gretsch logo. Gretsch mute (knob and mechanism). Two white plastic finger rests.1-5/8 width at nut. The only things missing are the original strap button on the upper bout (white plastic strap button attached on the back of the body instead) and the knob from the standby switch.
