1961 Fender Jazz bass with the original case included. This is one of the earliest 3 knob Jazz basses. Original nitro Sunburst finish over an Alder body, slab Rosewood fingerboard with clay dots, Tortoise shell guard. Fantastic neck with a superb playing action and amazing tone. All original with the exception of the volume pot for the neck pickup and the screws holding down the metal covers. The string mutes, screws and washer are included but not currently fixed to the bass.

The finish has wear front and back and some bumps and dings around the edges of the body, it also has buckle rash on the back and shows plenty of checking which has crazed. The neck finish has mostly worn leaving a smooth feel. Serial number: 65331. Weight: 8lbs 8.5oz. The body dates 8/61. The neck dates 9/61, the two original pots date to the 20th week of 61. The pickups have black bobbins and original winds. The case latches still work but the case itself has seen better days and the ends are broken in a few places.

This bass is a joy to play with a superb even sound right across the fretboard, it has a straight neck, and the truss rod works as it should. The frets are in great condition. (presumably this bass has been strung with flats for most or all of its life) It's been fully set up by my technician with a set of flat wound strings. Nut width: 1.471" . At 12th: 2.172" . Depth at nut 0.783". At the 12th: 0.975" The pickup outputs read: neck: 7.42 Kohms / bridge:8.05.
