1970 Hofner Senator Bass with a blade type Hofner pickup, faded Cherry Sunburst finish and a Tortoise shell guard. Serial 2393. All round great condition, the headstock has a few minor dings, the body and the back of the neck are in excellent condition. All original and complete with the exception of the of bag.

The binding is intact, the frets are good and the electronics work as they should. The neck is straight and there is plenty of room in the truss rod. The bass is fully set up by my tech and has a great action and equally good tone. The weight is 4lbs 15oz. Both pots date to 1970. The neck dimensions are, width at nut: 1.68" at the 12th fret: 1.907" Depth at nut: 0.769" at the 12th: 0.962". The pickup output reads: 8.99 Kohms.

Originally produced as the 500/3 in the late fifties, it took Hofner's London-based distributor, Selmer's of Charing Cross Road, to introduce model names and thus baptise this f-holed beauty. When the standard control plate was dropped in favour of surface mounted controls and the body depth was reduced, it was given the name Senator, bringing it in line with the guitar.
