1966 Fender Jazzmaster, Sunburst

1966 Fender Jazzmaster, Sunburst finish in fair-good condition. It has a tortoiseshell pickguard and bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays. The metal bridge cover is missing. Non original Fender case included. The nut has been replaced and the binding either side of the nut re-glued as it was coming loose. The work was carried out professionally in our workshop. The guitar is otherwise original.

There are numerous scuffs, dings and wear to the finish, particularly around the edges of the body and some buckle rash on the  back. There's lacquer checking throughout. The frets are in great condition having been dressed in our workshop with plenty of life left in them. The back of the neck has light play wear and a few small dings. The headstock has light lacquer checking in the finish and some scuffs and dings around the edges.

This guitar definitely delivers the classic Jazzmaster sound. The rhythm circuit is dark enough without being lost and the lead circuit cuts through and gives that perception of lifting the sound. The neck pickup has a nice smoothness whilst still retaining the clarity. The bridge pickup has a nice snarl to it without being too brittle.

This guitar has been set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario 10 gauge strings and a medium-low action. It came in with a Stew Mac 0.5 degree neck shim which we have left in. The neck is stamped Sep 66 B. Serial 190074. The volume pot is dated to the 17th week of 66, the tone pot to the 43rd week of 65.  Both pickups are original with original windings. Only one of the dates is legible, it reads 11-14-66. Weight 7lbs 12oz / 3.51 kg. Nut width: 41 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.7 mm. 3-month warranty included.
