1956 Gibson Les Paul Junior, Sunburst

1956 Gibson Les Paul Junior, Sunburst, in very good condition. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 6 9981, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard. Aside from the case, it's all original and complete, including the much-loved "bumblebee" capacitor. The pots both date to '56. (tone, 5th week and vol, 23rd) Supplied with 3 months warranty and a 14-day returns policy.

The Les Paul Junior was the most basic of Gibson's 1950s signature line, with the single P-90 pickup at the bridge and simple bar bridge/tailpiece, this minimalist design worked perfectly then and now. The Junior is known as one of the crunchiest and most powerful rock guitars, producing fantastic natural overdrive when paired with the right amp.

The body finish is still vibrant with a nice strong band of red present. There is lacquer checking and a number of small dings and scuffs around the edges and on the back. The neck and headstock also have dings and scuffs as well as lacquer checking. Everything remains structurally sound with no breaks or repairs. Unlike a lot of Juniors from this period, the bridge is not leaning forward at all and there's no damage to the wood between the bridge post and the edge of the pickup cavity.

This guitar has been set up in our workshop with a fresh set of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings and great action. Nut width: 43mm. Depth at 1st fret: 23mm. Width at 12th: 52.9mm depth at 12th: 25.4mm. Weight: 8 lbs 1 oz / 3.66 kg. Pickup DC resistance: 7.7k.

Condition Very Good 8.25/10
Case Modern Gibson HSC
Weight  8 lbs 1 oz / 3.66 kg
Serial Number 6 9981
