1979 Music Man Stingray, Walnut

  • Sale
  • Regular price £3,850.00

Early 1979 Musicman Stingray in very good condition. Walnut finish, black pickguard, maple neck & fretboard. Equipped with a 2-band EQ, epoxy-coated preamp and through-body stringing. Supplied in a modern Road Runner case.

There are a few small scuffs/dings in the finish, mainly around the edges of the body with some playwear on the back. The neck appears to have been re-fretted and given a clear overspray. It's a professional job and looks great. The neck is straight and plays smoothly and the truss rod works as intended with plenty of room to move. The frets are in excellent condition with hardly any wear and have been cleaned and polished in our workshop. This is an all-round excellent bass, the sound is warm and punchy. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of round-wound strings and has a great action allowing for superb playability up and down the neck.

The serial number is B014634. Weight: 10 lbs 6.5 oz / 4.73 kg. The neck is stamped Feb 21, 1979, the neck cavity stamp is very difficult to read - we think it says Mar 02 1979. The pots are a mixture of dates, which is not uncommon with pre-Ernie Ball instruments. Some of the wiring has been replaced. Nut width: 42.6 mm. Depth at 1st fret 19.7mm.

Condition Very good 7.75/10
