1959 Fender Precision Bass, Sunburst

1959 Fender Precision Bass in good condition. Sunburst finish, Gold anodized guard and a maple fingerboard. Supplied in a Fender tweed reissue hard case.

This bass is absolutely fantastic - made in early/mid-1959. The body is dated 3-59 in the pickup cavity; as with all Fenders from this exact period, there is no neck date. The three-tone sunburst lacquer finish is still vibrant with plenty of red hue remaining; under the pickguard, it is deeper still. The neck has a round-backed but quite slim profile and moderate wear through the finish. The headstock is adorned with the old "Spaghetti" Fender logo decal and is in great shape with just some minor scuffs around the edge.

This body finish has fair amount of wear overall but no structural damage or repair. There has been only one minor alteration; long ago the pots were changed to high-grade Allen Bradley pots. As these have a larger "can" than traditional pots there was some very minor enlargement of the control cavity to accommodate them, extremely neatly done.

It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'Addario Chrome, flat wound strings, it has a straight neck and low action. Serial:34261. The body date is 3/5. No neck date.  Nut width: 43.2mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.5 mm. Weight: 8 lbs 14 oz / 4.03 kg. Pickup DC resistance 11.85k.

Condition Good 7/10
