1966 Jazz Bass, Candy Apple Red finish with a matching headstock in very good condition. Serial number 172528. Aside from the 4 screws holding down the metal covers, this bass is all original and complete including the case.
The body finish displays some playwear and lacquer checking as well as some scuffs and small dings, mainly around the edges of the body. It has a fantastic neck which displays wear through the finish leaving it very smooth and comfortable in your hand. The headstock is generally clean with just a few very small marks and scuffs around the edges. The original frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. All hardware and electronics are in good working order including the truss rod which operates correctly.
This bass is a joy to play with a superb even sound right across the fretboard, the neck is straight. Nut width: 37.5 mm. Depth at the 1st fret: 21.8 mm. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a set of D'Addario Chrome flat-wound strings and sounds amazing. Weight 9 lbs 3.5 oz / 4.18 kg. The neck is stamped Sep 66 A, and the pots all date to the 31st week of '66. The neck pickup has a pencil date of 12-30-66 ( Dec 30th) and the bridge, 1-3-67. (Jan 3rd) Pickup DC resistance: N, 6.52 k/ B, 7.3 k.
