1963 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst

1963 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst - in good condition. All original, aside from the metal neck pickup cover and 3 screws ( 3 of the 4 holding down the metal covers.) It's missing the mute kit but otherwise complete, including the case. The case has seen plenty of use so there is plenty of wear and tear. We have changed one latch as it was missing and glued up the ends.

It's a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard.  It comes with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy. Serial number: 97794. Weight: 8 lbs 13.5 oz. Nut width: 37.7 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.8 mm. Pickup DC resistance: Both pickups are 7.34k. The neck is stamped May 63A. The neck pocket has a pencil date under the lacquer but it's impossible to read. Both pickups have black bobbins and appear to have untouched solder ( the same on the pots) The pots all date to the 20th week of '63. Fully set in our workshop with great action and a set of flat-wound strings.

There's lacquer checking in the finish and wear around the edges along with dings and scuffs. The neck has light-medium playwear through the top coat leaving it very smooth in the hand. The headstock is relatively free from wear with just one small scuff on the top edge. Tortoiseshell guard with one minor crack on the tip of the upper horn. It has a rosewood veneer fretboard with "clay" dots. The frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. (it's strung with flats and may well have had flats on its whole life as the frets have virtual no wear)  Everything remains structurally sound. All hardware and electronics are in good working order. The truss rod works correctly, and the neck is straight. The action can be set very low without buzz. Currently set at 2 mm at the 12th on the bass side.

Condition Good 7.5/10
Case OHSC
Weight 8 lbs 13.5 oz / 4.01 kg
Serial Number 97794
